SYDNEY- Arson may be the cause of a Sydney school fire that resulted in $120,000 worth of damage, police say.

Emergency crews were called to a high school at Minto, in Sydney's west, about 8.40pm (AEST) on Monday to find an administration building on the premises well alight.

The fire completed destroyed an office inside the building, while adjacent structures suffered damage from smoke and water.

Police estimate the building sustained $120,000 worth of damage and are treating the fire as suspicious.
